This week has been a really special one at The Hair Extension Company, and I just had to share it with you.
I’ve been working on a fully custom wig for one of my lovely clients, made entirely from Russian hair, and it took a full three weeks from start to finish. Russian hair is something I’ve worked with for years now, and there’s a reason it’s considered the gold standard — the cuticle is left completely intact, so it moves, behaves and ages exactly like your own natural hair. But because of that quality and the way it’s sourced and processed, it simply can’t be rushed. Every strand has to be handled properly, and that takes time.
When the wig finally arrived, I couldn’t wait to get my client in for her fitting. There’s always a lovely moment of anticipation on both sides — she’s been waiting three weeks to see the finished piece, and I’ve been waiting to see it on her! I fitted it properly, then cut and shaped it around her face to suit her.
Honestly, the result took my breath away. It sat so naturally you would never know it wasn’t growing straight from her scalp. That’s always my goal with custom pieces — not just beautiful hair, but hair that looks like it belongs to the person wearing it.
It’s moments like this that remind me why I love what I do. Thirty-plus years in this industry and a well-fitted, perfectly cut wig can still give me goosebumps.
